The United Nations has suspended humanitarian aid in some regions of Ukraine, URA-Inform reports, citing the UN.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres explained that this was due to the fact that the United States of America had reduced the financial contributions it had provided to the organization.
He noted that the large-scale cuts in US aid spending introduced by US President Donald Trump are contrary to Washington's interests.
“Reducing America's humanitarian role and influence would be contrary to American interests around the world. I can only hope that these decisions can be reversed based on more careful analysis,” he said.
He said that spending cuts had led to the suspension of humanitarian aid in some regions of Ukraine.
“In Ukraine, cash-based programs, which are a key element of humanitarian aid for one million people, have been suspended in key regions,” he stressed.
Earlier, the Trump administration also accused the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which was responsible for aid to foreign countries, of excessive spending.
Let us recall that earlier it was reported how pensions in Ukraine will change from March 1: indexation and new payments.
