How to Wash Windows Without Streaks: Life Hacks for Perfect Cleanliness

TwitterLinkedIn

Clean windows make your home brighter and cozier, but often after washing there are streaks that make the result look less than ideal. To avoid this, it is important to use the right cleaning products and techniques.

URA-Inform reports this.

Let's look at the main life hacks that will help you achieve perfect glass transparency:

1. Choose the right weather

It is better to wash windows on a cloudy but dry day. If the sun shines too brightly, the water on the glass evaporates quickly, leaving streaks. The optimal air temperature is from +5 to +20°C.

2. Use the right tools

You can buy a ready-made glass cleaner or prepare an effective solution at home. Popular options:

— Water with vinegar (2-3 tablespoons of vinegar per 1 liter of water) removes dirt well and makes glass shiny.

— Water with ammonia (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water) helps remove greasy stains.

— A mixture of water and starch (1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water) prevents streaks.

3. Choose the right tools

Microfiber cloths, a rubber glass cleaner (scraper) and a sponge are suitable for cleaning windows. Newspapers, which were often used to wipe glass in the past, can leave black marks from the printing ink.

4. Correct washing technique

First, wash the frame and window sill so that dirt from them does not get on the glass. Then, using a sponge or cloth, spread the cleaning agent over the glass, paying attention to the dirt. After that, remove the moisture with a rubber scraper, moving from top to bottom or horizontally. Remove the remaining water with a dry microfiber cloth.

5. Final polishing

To make the glass look perfect, you can additionally rub it with a dry microfiber or cotton cloth. Some housewives use old nylon tights for this purpose – they give the glass an additional shine.
