US President Donald Trump announced plans to significantly increase the production of rare earth elements and critical minerals in the United States. He made this statement in an address to a joint session of the US Congress on March 4, 2025.

Trump's decision was reported by URA-Inform, citing politexpert.net.

Trump stressed that “historic action” would be taken in the coming days to expand domestic production of these resources. He noted that materials such as graphite, lithium, uranium and 17 rare earth elements are critical to U.S. economic growth and national security. They are needed to produce electronics, clean energy technologies, power grids, electric vehicles and some weapons systems.

The president also announced plans to build “one of the world’s largest” gas pipelines in Alaska. According to him, Japan, South Korea and other countries could become partners in the project, and the investment volume could reach “trillions of dollars.”

Trump also criticized the previous administration of Joe Biden, saying it left behind an “economic disaster and an inflation nightmare.” He blamed its policies for rising energy and food prices, which made many necessities unaffordable for millions of Americans.

These initiatives are aimed at strengthening the energy independence of the United States and reducing its dependence on imports of critical resources. Expanding domestic production of rare earth elements and building a major gas pipeline could significantly affect the country's economic development and its position in the global energy market.

Let us recall that Elon Musk suggested that Zelensky leave Ukraine for the sake of a peace agreement: the reason is known.
