Ukraine and the Czech Republic are actively cooperating in the creation of a joint group of optical reconnaissance satellites called Suzirya. This project, which was the result of a political agreement between the countries in 2022, is aimed at creating a highly effective monitoring and reconnaissance system using modern space technologies.

The main elements of the Suzirya project will be the TROLL and Drak satellites. The TROLL satellite was launched into orbit in January of this year and demonstrated the capabilities of a hyperspectral camera with a resolution of less than 5 meters per pixel. This satellite is already actively used for reconnaissance purposes, providing important information for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Drak satellite, developed specifically for the needs of the Ukrainian army, promises even higher resolution – less than one meter per pixel. Although the exact characteristics and dimensions of the satellite are not disclosed for security reasons, it is known that it belongs to microsatellites with a mass of 50 to 150 kg. This will significantly improve the quality of intelligence data and increase the accuracy of monitoring.
The Suzirya project opens up new opportunities for Ukraine in the field of space technologies, providing higher quality and more timely data for making operational decisions.
The Suzirya project is an important step for Ukraine in strengthening its defense capabilities by providing access to high-quality satellite data for reconnaissance and monitoring. Joint work with the Czech Republic allows Ukraine to develop its own space technologies to enhance the country's security.
