Military historian Sönke Neitzel of the University of Potsdam said this summer could be “the last peaceful one” for Germany. He said Europe should urgently prepare for a potential military clash with Russia.

URA-Inform reports this, citing the Bild Telegram channel in Russian.

The researcher does not rule out the scenario of an attack by the Kremlin on the Baltic countries, which would automatically entail the involvement of NATO countries, including Germany, in the conflict.

As alarm bells mount, Germany and its European partners are accelerating their rearmament. Berlin is planning to borrow heavily to modernize the Bundeswehr, including buying tanks, drones and building fortifications. Authorities are considering returning to the practice of storing supplies in bunkers.

Poland is also sharply strengthening its defense policy – the army plans to grow to 500 thousand people. In addition, Warsaw is openly talking about the possible deployment of American nuclear weapons on its territory, although Washington is refraining from confirmation for now.

France, Italy, Sweden and other EU countries are investing in missile systems, air defense systems and military cooperation. About 20 countries are already participating in the Sky Shield project, which aims to create a common air defense system in Europe.

“Europe is finally waking up. We are seeing a shift from words to actions, and this is not panic, but a response to reality,” Neitzel emphasized.

According to him, in the conditions of uncertainty and an unstable international situation, it is important not only to strengthen defense, but also to strengthen political unity within the European Union and NATO.

We will also remind you of what is known about the “explosive” FPV glasses of the Russians and the special operation of the Ukrainian GUR.
