Polish General Waldemar Skrzypczak, who had previously made statements suggesting a potential strike on Russia’s Kaliningrad region, has died at the age of 69. His death was announced by Poland’s Minister of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the official statement.

In his message, the minister emphasized that the general’s passing is a significant loss for the Polish Armed Forces. Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted Skrzypczak’s professionalism, unwavering dedication to military service, and his role in training thousands of soldiers both in Poland and on international missions. He also noted that the general continued to share his knowledge and experience with younger officers until the end.

Waldemar Skrzypczak was born on January 19, 1956, in Szczecin. He spent his childhood in Kołobrzeg, where his father served for 20 years in the 32nd Mechanized Regiment. Following in his father’s footsteps, Skrzypczak eventually became the commander of the same unit in 1991.
