Canadian actor Graham Greene, best known for his roles in The Green Mile, the Twilight saga, and Die Hard, has died in a Canadian hospital. His agent, Michael Greene, confirmed the actor’s passing to Deadline, noting that Greene remained strong in spirit and continued working on new projects until the end. The cause of death was a long illness, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing Deadline.
Graham Greene was born on June 22, 1952, in Ontario, Canada. Before turning to acting, he worked as a carpenter, bartender, and sound engineer. His breakthrough came in 1990 with Kevin Costner’s Dances with Wolves, where his performance as a Native American character earned him international acclaim and an Academy Award nomination.
Throughout his career, Greene appeared in numerous films and TV series, including Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and The Green Mile. His talent and versatility made him one of the most prominent figures in Canadian cinema.
The actor received multiple awards, including a Grammy, Canada’s Gemini and Canadian Screen Awards, and a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. In 2016, he was appointed to the Order of Canada, and in 2025, he was honored with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.
Greene was married to actress and director Hilary Blackmore for more than 35 years. They raised a daughter, Lilli, and he had recently become a grandfather.
