Work has begun on security guarantees in accordance with the Joint Declaration of the G7 and Ukraine, which was adopted in Vilnius.
The results of the work of the Ukraine-NATO Council demonstrate the effectiveness of this instrument of interaction, which makes it possible to improve communication between partner countries in resolving important issues for our state.
As reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with media representatives in Riga.
“The Ukraine-NATO Council is functioning, it is a very good instrument that started working after summit in Vilnius. We used this tool, and I saw how quickly you can organize partners, you can meet at the level of defense ministers, at the level of foreign ministers,” said Vladimir Zelensky.
He noted that work has begun on security guarantees in accordance with the Common Declaration of the G7 and Ukraine, adopted in Vilnius.

“We have begun work on guarantees security. It’s very difficult, but I think that in the near future we will be able to demonstrate to societies – not only the Ukrainian one – the first such draft. Not everything, because there are closed norms, non-public ones, but we can show general things. I think that the assessment will be positive,” the president noted.
Safe guarantees include not only the provision of weapons, but also financial, IT and cyber support. They are a step on Ukraine's path to a security alliance.
At the same time, Ukraine would like to see a real step from NATO countries that brings Ukraine closer to the Alliance.
“So that there is no stagnation. So that this is a successful and powerful summit (NATO summit in Washington – ed.) and that NATO countries show that they are not afraid of Russia,” the head of state emphasized.
