This was announced at a briefing by the head of the department of operational emergency service, communications, warning and informing the population of the department for civil protection, mobilization and defense work of the Donetsk Defense Forces Dmitry Petlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“From February 26 to the present, about 1 million 357 thousand people were evacuated from the region. Of these, 163,520 are children and about 42,650 people with disabilities. During this time, about 223 thousand people also returned. And this trend has continued to grow recently. Over the past two months, about 2 thousand more have returned than were evacuated,” Petlin noted.

“They are sent daily by evacuation train from the city of Pokrovsk to the Lviv direction and also every eight days to Berdichev, Zhitomir region, where they receive, accommodate, and issue assistance. One-time cash assistance and a monthly living allowance are paid,” Petlin recalled.

He added that evacuees are also accommodated in cities with compact residence if they do not have the opportunity to stay somewhere.

The evacuation point operates in the city of Pokrovsk and local authorities are organizing evacuation there; if a decision is made regarding leaving the region, they must be contacted. Therefore, I emphasize once again: make decisions and evacuate to safer regions in a timely manner,” Petlin said, addressing the population who still remains in Donbass.
