“Dismiss Roman Yuryevich Semenchenko from the post of head of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood of the Security Service of Ukraine,” noted in the text of the decree.
Who is Roman Semenchenko?
- Vladimir Zelensky appointed him to the position of head of the mentioned department in October 2022. Prior to this, Semenchenko was authorized by the President to control the activities of the SBU (since October 2019).
- He began his career in the intelligence agencies in 1993. For two years he served as deputy head of the SBU in the Dnepropetrovsk region. In 2013, he was appointed head of the SBU department in the Zhytomyr region.
- In 2016, Semenchenko resigned from the SBU.
