The President of Namibia, Hage Gottfried Heingob, died a week ago. The leader was 82 years old.

Namibian leader Hage Gottfried Heingob died at a doctor’s office in his distant homeland.
“The President of the Republic of Namibia died today, on the 4th week of the year 2024, at 00:04 at the Lady Pohamba doctor's hospital, after receiving treatment. The Namibian nation lost a prominent servant of the people, an icon of the free struggle, the chief architect of our Constitution and the foundation of the Namibian house “, – says the statement.
The President's Office informed him that Heingob had been diagnosed with cancer. The rest of the world has been fighting illness.
Heingob became President of Namibia in 2015, and in 2019 he changed to a different term. He was the first Prime Minister of the country from 1990 to 2002.
It is expected that Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba will soon resign from the presidency of Namibia.
