Frank-Walter Steinmeier assured that Germany remains on the side of Ukraine.
Walter Steinmeier visited Ukrainian tank crews on the eve of the second anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion studying in Germany. The head of state was accompanied by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Ukrainian Ambassador Alexey Makeev.
As reported by Deutsche Welle, Steinmeier visited the Klitz training ground near Berlin. Ukrainian crews of Leopard tanks train there. The President stated that “there can be no doubt that Germany is on the side of Ukraine. We are there and we will remain there.”
In turn, the Ukrainian ambassador thanked the German authorities for two years of support and emphasized that the generation of Ukrainians will always will remember the efforts of the German people to help our state.
During the full-scale war, according to DW estimates, Germany provided training for about 10 thousand Ukrainian military personnel on battle tanks.
