This year, 61 cases of scarlet fever among children have been registered in the Odessa region.
“The increase in patients with scarlet fever is a normal process, not an outbreak.” What to do in case of the first symptoms and how to treat?
There is no specific treatment for scarlet fever. The diagnosis is based on epidemiological data, a characteristic clinical picture and laboratory tests.
Prevention of the disease consists of early detection and isolation of the source of infection. People with scarlet fever should remain in isolation for up to 24 hours after receiving the first dose of antibiotic. If an antibiotic is not prescribed, isolation should continue for 21 days.
