Ex-Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Tabachnik received service in absentia and former head of the State Registration Service Dmitry Vorona received 12 years in absentia. Also, the convicts had their property worth more than UAH 200 million confiscated. Both attackers are hiding in the territory of the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where they carry out subversive activities against our state.
They are in direct contact with a staff member of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th Service of the FSB, Oleg Kozlov. With his coordination, Tabachnyk regularly provided the occupiers with his own forecasts for the development of the socio-political situation in Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Also, at the direction of the aggressor, he advised Gauleiters Saldo and Balitsky on the issues of holding pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied areas of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Another task of Tabachnik was to provide local collaborators with “methodological” assistance in reformatting the educational industry according to Russian “standards.” For his cooperation with the occupiers, the ex-minister was appointed as an “adviser” to Balitsky and included in the local center of Putin’s United Russia party. As the investigation established, Vorona was also Balitsky’s adviser. It was he who prepared an appeal to the head of the Kremlin, in which he proposed to reward the Russian military and collaborators who took part in the seizure of part of the territory in southern Ukraine. He also helped the invaders create occupation bodies of the Russian Federation, including forming a “staff” of like-minded people. Subsequently, he became a senator of the Russian Federation from the Zaporozhye region and moved to Moscow. In addition, both traitors are involved in numerous incidents of plundering the property of local farmers and seizing their enterprises. Based on the collected evidence, the court found Tabachnyk and Vorona guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- ch. 2 tbsp. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- ch. 1 tbsp. 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state);
- ch. 2 tbsp. 28, part 1 art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).
The trial took place in special proceedings in absentia (in the absence of the accused). Currently, comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring those sentenced to justice. The SBU notes that the attackers will be found and punished.
Recall that last month pro-Russian blogger Yuri Podolyaka received 15 years in prison in absentia. He, in particular, is involved in adjusting the massive missile and artillery attacks of Russia in the Nikolayev region.
