The US Secretary of Defense calls for a “focus on tactical and operational goals.”
Pentagon Chairman Lloyd Austin criticized the destruction of oil refineries on Russian territory by Ukrainian defense forces.
As Bloomberg writes, the US Secretary of Defense said that such attacks “could have a domino effect on global energy situation.” According to Austin, “Ukraine is better off focusing on tactical and operational goals that directly affect the battlefield.”
The statement by Joe Biden administration spokesman was immediately criticized by Republican Senator Tom Cotton. He blamed White house in preventing the effective actions of the Ukrainian army for political reasons: “Biden does not want gas and gasoline prices to rise in the election year.”
The publication notes that most of the current president’s campaign is really devoted to the fight against inflation , in particular by increasing fuel costs for American consumers.
- Bloomberg previously wrote that attacks on Russian refineries could blow up American politics.
- The US State Department stated that it does not support Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.
