Police officers in Poltava region have detained a kidnapper of a newborn from a perinatal center in Kremenchuk.
The press service of the National Police reported this.
On July 14, law enforcement officers received a message from a woman that her 4-day-old baby had disappeared from the postpartum room of the perinatal center. Surveillance cameras showed a woman leaving the establishment with a large package. But investigators established that the attacker was a transsexual man.
“The detainee explains his action by saying that he really wanted a child, whom he could never give birth to, so he resorted to crime. Everything is fine with the child, law enforcement officers returned the baby mothers to the perinatal center,” said Evgeniy Rogachev, head of the GUNP in the Poltava region.
Based on this fact, a pre-trial investigation is being carried out into criminal proceedings opened under Part 3 of Art. 146 and part 2 of Art. 367 (abduction of a minor and official negligence leading to grave consequences) of the Criminal Code.
Police investigators are preparing a petition regarding the notification of a suspect to a detainee and the selection of a preventive measure for him – detention. For The 25-year-old kidnapper now faces 5 to 10 years in prison.
