"Militarny": F-16 fighters for Ukraine were equipped with an early warning system /p> F-16 fighters in Ukraine

F-16 fighters received by Ukraine are equipped with Terma PIDS+ pylons with an early warning system for a missile attack, Militarnye reports.

This conclusion was made based on an analysis of videos published in the telegram channel of the President of Ukraine.< /p>

The publication notes that fighters of all member countries of the European Air Force (EPAF) were equipped with a system developed and manufactured by the Danish company Terma.

Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium ordered Terma PIDS+ pylons for their F-16s in 2018. All these states were supposed to transfer these aircraft to Kyiv, so it is not known from which of these countries the aircraft was demonstrated.

The system enables the aircraft to detect and counter missiles in advance. The MWS consists of six sensors and one computer. Three sensors are mounted on each of the two pylons, their arrangement provides almost complete spherical coverage around the aircraft.

The computer is mounted on the right pylon. The system transmits threat information to the Terma ALQ-213, located in the cockpit.

The ALQ-213 selects the most effective sequence for firing flares from the Flare-Up module, located in the PIDS+ pylon. And the decoys themselves are fired at such an angle that they shoot diagonally and cannot hit a missile mounted on the end of a fighter's wing.

On August 4, Vladimir Zelensky officially confirmed that Ukraine had received the first American F-16 fighters and showed the planes.

The British publication The Economist notes that our country received 10 fighters on the last day of July, with 79 expected in the future.
