Some of the promises made at the Washington summit have not yet been fulfilled.
Bloomberg agency NATO countries that committed to providing air defense systems to Ukraine have still not fulfilled them. This includes the five long-range systems promised at the Alliance summit in Washington.
Then in July, the United States, Germany, and Romania claimed that each of them would send a Patriot to Ukraine, and another installation would be assembled from components provided by several countries. Italy was supposed to add the SAMP-T surface-to-air missile system to this system. US President Joe Biden called the agreement a “historic donation.”
However, some of the promises did not result in real actions. There is a risk that they will not be fulfilled in the fall, when Ukraine risks once again being subjected to massive shelling of critical infrastructure by Russia.
Bloomberg's interlocutors also point out that support for Ukraine among allies remains extremely unequal, and the problems concern not only air defense systems, but also the equipment of reserve brigades, which negatively affects the state's defense capability.
- In one of his addresses, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States, Britain, and France to speed up the provision of the promised aid.
