President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the border areas in Sumy region and held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky and the Chief of the OVA.
Syrsky reported on the situation in the area of active operations in the Kursk region and the front line in Ukraine. He informed about the steps to strengthen the defense in the Toretsk and Pokrovsky directions, where the occupiers continue to concentrate their main efforts.
“In certain areas of the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces took control of another settlement and replenished the exchange fund for our state. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported on the establishment of the activities of the military commandant's office in this territory,” the statement on the presidential website says.

The SBU, together with the Special Operations Forces, hit the enemy Marinovka airfield, from which the Russians are bombing the front line. This was reported by sources in the Defense Forces.
Local residents spent the whole night listening to the explosions of warehouses with cabs at an airfield in the Volgograd region. Columns of smoke rose above the airfield.
“The SBU works with surgical precision on airfields from which the enemy is attacking Ukraine. Each such implementation reduces the advantage of the Russians in the air and significantly limits their aviation capabilities,” – noted an informed source in the SBU.
On August 22, explosions thundered on the ferry Conro Trader, which was transporting fuel, in the port of Kavkaz (Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation).

“Krymsky Veter” notes that the ferry had been fired upon before, but it was empty at that time.

The Third Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that it was advancing in the Kharkiv region.
As stated in the message of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade in the Telegram channel, as a result of counterattacking actions, the brigade took control of the battalion defense area, enemy platoon and company strongholds and advanced almost two square kilometers deep into the front.
The commander of the 3rd separate assault brigade, Andrei Beletsky, stated that the main task was to “knock down” the offensive potential of the 20th army of the Russian Federation. The brigade reported that in four days the enemy lost three hundred personnel, as well as a significant amount of equipment and weapons, which were destroyed or damaged by Ukrainian soldiers.
As a result, the assault actions diverted the Russian attack from the Makeyevka direction and relieved tension from other critical sections of the front in the neighboring brigade zones.
