Defense Ministry: Ukraine scales up production of 155-mm artillery ammunition

<p>Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov said at the opening of the representative office of the French-German defense concern KNDS in Kyiv that Ukraine is scaling up the production of 155-mm artillery ammunition. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. </p>
<p>The newly created company KNDS Ukraine LLC and the Ukrainian industry will jointly produce 155-mm artillery ammunition in Ukraine. Its activities will also focus on providing maintenance and repair of equipment manufactured by KNDS, in particular Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, CAESAR and PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery units, as well as AMX 10RC armored vehicles.</p>
<p>Dmitry Klimenkov thanked France, Germany and all partners who contributed to the implementation of this cooperation. According to him, the opening of the KNDS representative office in Ukraine will lay the foundation for the creation of a reliable security and defense system in Europe.</p>
<p>“In addition to military equipment, the production of 155 mm shells at our enterprises is critically important. And I am confident that together we will be able to implement many important initiatives to strengthen security in Ukraine and Europe as a whole,” said Dmitry Klimenkov.</p>
<p>In the future, the company will also be engaged in the full-scale production of individual weapons systems in Ukraine.</p>
<p>According to KNDS, <b>the Ukrainian Armed Forces already use or have contracted about 800 units of equipment and weapons from the concern</b>. This makes the company one of Ukraine's key industrial partners in the defense sector.</p>

<li>In September, the ex-officer of the Ministry of Strategic Industry and now the non-staff adviser to the president on strategic issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, announced that Ukraine had begun producing its own 155 mm shells.</li>
<li>Recently, Ukroboronprom signed agreements with four Western weapons manufacturers. We are talking about cooperation in the areas of ammunition and special chemicals, unmanned systems, as well as electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare.</li>
<li>Recently, Denys Shmyhal reported that in the first 8 months of this year, Ukraine's weapons production has doubled. The Prime Minister noted that the goal is to build one of the most modern defense-industrial complexes.</li>
