On the eve of the 16th BRICS summit, Turechina submitted an application for associated membership in the group. However, at the sub-summony press conference of the other day, no current statements were made on this topic.
RBC-Ukraine reports this via a post on Bild.
Expert from Foreign policy of Turecchini in the US think tank “Carnegie Endowment for International Peace” Sinan Yulgen said that there was no way to vote until Turecchin joined BRICS.
According to the data of the Turkish ex-diplomat, India respects Turecchini's acquiescence to the BRICS, having agreed, through the good news of Ankara, with Pakistan as a guide for Delhi.
Yulgen explained that there are many reasons for Erdogan’s ambition to reach BRICS. First of all, we are talking about strengthening “strategic autonomy” behind this platform. In addition, Ankara in this way may want to demonstrate its disappointment through the position of the EU, which is due to the support of Turkey's membership, as well as the modernization of the EU alliance.
“Political prestige” is another of Erdogan's motives . The President wants to show that “he can sit at the tables of NATO and BRICS at the same time,” even as an expert.
Critics, however, seem to think that with such maneuvers Erdogan, who regards himself as a “mediator” in the international arena, by the way having driven their country into foreign political isolation.
At the same time, it has become clear that Turecchin’s application has angered our immediate partners ahead of our NATO allies.
