Ukraine is finished. As for negotiations with Russia, in particular, involving it in the Second Peace Summit, the Ukrainian side will be ready to hold the event, having secured the support of the countries of the Global South.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, said this in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
“Zelensky never spoke about territorial compromise, but about the need to accept internationally recognized borders. But it is true that he was ready to negotiate based on the situation on the eve of the Russian invasion. Crimea and Donbass remain Ukrainian, they are not subject to discussion. We are against freezing the war, and we want to end it. We are assured that the countries of the Global South also condemn the Russian invasion and seizure of territory by force. However, in order to start negotiations, it is necessary to return to the situation that existed before the first shot of the Russian cannon was heard at four in the morning two years ago. Then we will talk about how to return sovereignty to the 1991 borders,” the head of the OPU said.
According to Yermak, the peace formula will be completed in early November, and then the Ukrainian president “will be ready to listen to other initiatives, such as those of China, Brazil, South Africa, and the like, in order to integrate them into ours.”
Yermak stressed that Ukraine cannot build a peace proposal by “allowing itself to be influenced by those who wanted this war.”
“We will be ready to hold an international conference when we feel the strength and support of the global South for negotiations with Russia,” the head of the Presidential Office added.
Yermak also said that “our plan states that before the start of negotiations we ask for an invitation to become a member of NATO” and that “we will be able to become part of the Alliance at the end of the war.”
