A 34-year-old unemployed man was detained in the Kharkiv region on suspicion of adjusting the enemy shelling of Vovchansk, the SBU reports.
According to the special service, he was remotely recruited by a representative of the Russian special service on the eve of the occupiers' repeated offensive in the Kharkiv region. With the start of the battle for Vovchansk, the agent received instructions from the occupiers to remain in the city, despite round-the-clock shelling from the Russian Federation and the mandatory evacuation of the civilian population.
Subsequently, under the guise of an ordinary resident of the community, he regularly walked around the area, where he secretly recorded the locations of Ukrainian troops. The enemy was most interested in the location of fortified areas, firing positions, repair bases and ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
After reconnaissance sorties, the agent reported to his Russian curator on the information he had received. According to available data, the occupiers used this information to prepare attacks on Ukrainian defenders.
