Since January 2024, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed contracts for the supply of more than 11,000 electronic warfare systems with a total value of more than UAH 6 billion. The press service of the Ministry of Defense reported this.
In particular, several thousand electronic warfare systems worth over UAH 1 billion were contracted in September-October alone. These are mainly short-range portable systems. They can be installed on vehicles and equipment to protect crews from enemy FPV drones. Or used in positions to detect and suppress drone control channels. In addition, individual tactical electronic warfare systems have been purchased.
“The purchase of more than 11,000 electronic warfare systems by the state since the beginning of the year allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to significantly more effectively counter enemy drones and protect the lives of our military. Most of the purchased electronic warfare systems were produced in Ukraine, which contributes to the development of national production and strengthens the military-technical independence of Ukraine in the long term,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klymenkov.
Ukraine and Lithuania signed a memorandum on the joint production of UAVs, ammunition, electronic warfare systems
In the case of purchasing electronic warfare systems abroad, contracts are concluded directly with foreign manufacturers, which allows saving money and is in line with the policy of the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense to reduce the number of intermediaries.
Agency Director Marina Bezrukov emphasized that the priority remains the earliest possible closure of the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Recent contracts concluded in September and October for 1 billion hryvnia provide for prompt deliveries, some of which have already been completed,” noted Marina Bezrukova.
