The senator insisted on the need for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
A number of Western media outlets, including Reuters, report that Donald Trump has decided on the candidacy of the next US Secretary of State. The Republican intends to entrust foreign policy in his new administration to Senator Marco Rubio.
The 53-year-old representative of Florida is considered one of the biggest “hawks” in Trump's entourage. He advocates tough measures against the US geopolitical opponents, including Iran, China and Cuba.
However, Rubio's position cannot be called positive for Ukraine. He was one of those who voted against the allocation of $61 billion in aid to our country, and also stated the need to focus on the issue of peace, and not the return of the territories occupied by Russia. In his opinion, there is no other option to end the war except negotiations.
Rubio will be the first Latin American to hold the post of Secretary of State – in the US they believe that Trump wants to strengthen the favor of this group of the population.
