On November 12, Volodymyr Zelensky established the Day of the State Bureau of Investigation in Ukraine.
The text of the decree was published on the website of the head of state.
“Considering the importance and role of the State Bureau of Investigation in the implementation of tasks to prevent, detect, suppress, solve and investigate criminal offenses, I decree to establish the Day of the State Bureau of Investigation in Ukraine, which will be celebrated annually on November 12,” the document says.
In In an evening video address that same day, Zelensky said that Tuesday marked the ninth anniversary of the adoption of the law on the State Bureau of Investigation. < /p>
“I thank each and every one of the SBI structure who cares about state interests and, through their work, provides greater opportunities for justice in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president added.
- On November 12, 2015, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the State Bureau of Investigation.
- Its tasks include preventing organized crime, combating terrorist and other particularly serious violent crimes, and ensuring the security of individuals, society, and the state.
- The Bureau investigates crimes punishable by life imprisonment, war crimes, and crimes committed by law enforcement officers, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
