Olaf Scholz visited wounded soldiers during a visit to Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited wounded defenders during a visit to Ukraine together with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
These soldiers were wounded while defending the state in the Luhansk, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Sumy regions, the president’s website says. The soldiers thanked the chancellor for assistance from Germany, including the air defense system.
Olaf Scholz wished the soldiers a speedy recovery recovery.
Zelensky awarded the doctors with the Order of Merit, 3rd degree, and the medal “For a Saved Life”.
“Thank you for your work. Difficult work, which is outside the media and outside the broadcasts. But it is very important, because you are bringing our guys back to life. Thank you and take care of yourself,” he commented.
The National Guard, National Police, and State Border Service also received the Order of Courage, 3rd degree.
- The German Chancellor's visit to Kyiv was not announced, and the last time he visited Ukraine was in 2022. The trip took place a few weeks after Scholz called Vladimir Putin. The Chancellor called it “an unpleasant but necessary conversation.”
