The Minister for Veterans Affairs has made a grim forecast for his own army.
The Russian army is losing about 1,500 soldiers killed and wounded in Ukraine every day. Such data was announced by the Minister for Veterans Affairs of the United Kingdom, Alistair Carnes.
According to the BBC, the official made a reservation about the unpreparedness of the British army to participate in a conflict that is equal in scale to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Carnes warned that with the level of losses that the Russians have, His Majesty's army could be “destroyed in just six months.”
According to official data, the British army has just under 110,000 men, of which almost a quarter are volunteer reservists.
According to the minister, “this does not mean that we urgently need to increase the army.” However, the army's ability to quickly generate reserves is critical. In this indicator, according to Carnes, “we need to catch up with our NATO allies.”
- Britain and France, according to media reports, are discussing the deployment of their troops in Ukraine.
