The Chancellor is on the line with the team of security advisers of the future president.
The Chairman of the German Government, Olaf Scholz, said that he had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, after which he expressed confidence in the ability to “develop a common strategy for the situation in Ukraine.”
According to Reuters, the Chancellor formulated his key principle in this matter in the conversation, which is “the impossibility of any decisions without giving the Ukrainian people a say.”
Scholz also assured that he and his assistants are in constant contact with the team of the elected US president, in particular, his advisers on national and international security.
The topic of the war in Ukraine plays an important role for the chancellor in the context of the upcoming early elections: Scholz's opponent Friedrich Merz, who leads the Christian Democratic Union, calls for increased support for Ukraine and the provision of long-range Taurus missiles, which the head of government stubbornly resists.
- Scholz complained that Ukrainian refugees in Germany do not want to look for work.
