India is ready to embrace Russian oil. It is possible that someone else is proposing lower prices in New Delhi.

In other words, if anyone else promotes India's lower prices, then the country will be forced to Russian oil.
“India never bought Russian naphtha until the start of the war in Ukraine. We took naphtha from the edges of the Persian inlet. Once the war began and when sanctions were imposed on Russia, Russia wanted to enter other economies, and they were giving us great discounts,” said Swasti Rao, a research scientist at the Center for Europe and Eurasia at the Defense Research Institute and an analyst from India.
What do you know about the situation in India and the Russian Federation?
Well, before the Russian outbreak, after the start of a large-scale invasion, India did not agree on a new contract with Russia. And of course, there are very pragmatic reasons here.
On the one hand, Russia is sending all its armor to the front against Ukraine, and through this a number of previous contracts have already been disrupted. According to the Stockholm International Research Institute's report on the world, in 2009 India imported 76% of its produce from Russia. In 2023, the Russian Federation contributed more than 36%.
On the other hand, there is a technology problem. The Russian armor had a lot of foreign details. Their supplies from Europe are being gradually phased out, and Chinese components are being replaced. And this raises concerns in India: they have not lost any influence in the Chinese details, which bear risks for Indian security in view of the difficult situation in New Delhi and Beijing.
The war in Ukraine and India
India is saving ties with Russia for the duration of the war in Ukraine. New Delhi believes that such a short period of time will not allow the Sino-Russian alliance to be destroyed.
At least 91 Indian citizens have taken part in the war in Ukraine. Most of these people are from poor homelands, and when agents of the Russian Federation offered them jobs with small salaries, they were pleased.
In this case, as Reuters wrote in the spring, the shells that were sold by Indian manufacturers zbroi, redirected European purchases to Ukraine. New Delhi is not trying to stop trade, regardless of Moscow’s protests.
