In September, the Russian Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of Alexander Sizikov, refusing to dismiss him due to his health.

Blind political prisoner Alexander Sizikov, whom a Russian court sentenced to 17 years, was transported from temporarily occupied Crimea to the territory of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.
It is known that Crimean political prisoner Alexander Sizikov, who was illegally sentenced by the age of 17, was transferred from the Simferopol pre-trial detention center to Krasnodar.
Despite the demands of the defense to dismiss him due to a group 1 disability, the occupation “penitentiary service” in Crimea refused.
Alexander Sizikov lost his sight in 2009 due to a traffic accident, but continued to protest in support of illegally convicted Crimean Muslims, for which he was recognized as a “terrorist”.
Since July 2020, he has been under house arrest, and on September 13, 2024, the Russian appellate court upheld the sentence, refusing to dismiss him due to his health condition.
“Russia grossly violates international humanitarian law when it illegally imprisons civilians! Currently, there are 218 known Crimean political prisoners illegally detained by the Russian Federation in the Crimea. At least 48 people need immediate medical care,” says Lubin.
