Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the boy, his mother and grandmother have found themselves under occupation.
As part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative of the President of Ukraine, another child was returned from the temporarily occupied territories.
This was reported by the advisor to the head of the OPU, the operational director of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative Daria Zarovna.
She noted that “at the beginning of the large-scale war, Mikhail, his mother and grandmother found themselves under occupation. To avoid unnecessary attention from the occupation authorities, the boy had to go to a Russian school, which became a difficult test for him. He felt like a stranger among his new classmates and could not find a common language with them.”
“The family tried to leave several times, but all attempts ended in failure. However, thanks to the coordinated work of our partners, the Ukrainian Network for Child Rights, Mikhail is finally home,” the adviser adds.
The boy's mother could not leave her bedridden grandmother, whose health had noticeably worsened due to stress and the lack of necessary medication. Mikhail was met by his relatives in Ukraine. Now he is safe.
- After the abduction of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories, the Russian Federation is trying to deprive them of their Ukrainian identity. There are about fifty special programs in Russia to destroy the self-identification of children and youth of Ukraine.
- As intelligence says, the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia is an extremely difficult process.
