Officer of the Syrian rebel group “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”, who brought down the regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad, criticizing Israel's strikes on targets in Syria. In my opinion, this threatens a serious escalation in the region.
RBC-Ukraine reports this in a post to The Times of Israel.
Ahmad al-Sharaa, also known as Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, on Saturday 14th, gave an interview to the Syrian TV channel Novin, in which he stated that Israel “no longer has any justification” for the airstrikes in Syria. In his words, the recent attacks by Israeli troops on Syrian soil have “drawn red lines” and threaten an unprecedented escalation in the region.
The rebel leader called on the international community to take responsibility for stopping the escalation and guaranteeing respect for Syrian sovereignty. Without completely forgetting Israel, he spoke about “diplomatic solutions” as the only way to ensure security and stability, as a short option for “ill-considered military adventures”.
The new leader of Syria, in his interview, also mixed his hopes for Israel’s concerns and his calm. Sharaa stated that the country is marked by the fate of a huge war and that at this stage it will not be drawn into conflicts that could lead to further ruins, and the main priorities are the renewal and stability.
The rebel commander added that the Iranian entrenchment in Syria became a great danger for the region itself, the neighboring regions and the Persian backwater.
“We were able to put an end to Iranian aggression: “We were able to destroy the edge “The Iranian presence in Syria is not the enemy of the Iranian people,” Sharaa said.
Rule of law and stability
At the hour of this interview, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham spoke about the fact that the new order will inevitably have to rule in a post-war Syria. He spoke of the importance of the “revolutionary mentality” that the rebels embraced, as well as the need for the creation of modern institutions, guaranteeing the rule of law and respect for the rights of all citizens edges.
Shara made a penniless criticism of the corrupt Assad regime, declaring that he treats Syria as a “farm”, extracting and seizing resources for wealth. He added that documents will soon be published that will reveal the scale of the “grand thefts” to the regime.
The rebel leader noted that the rebels’ victory over the regime is imminent, they will bring down the regime in just 11 days, ensured the effectiveness of their planning and preparation. In his words, the rebels “took control of great places without displacing anyone.” At the same time, it is not obvious that the differences between various rebel groups were marked by internal conflicts, factionalism and foreign aid.
Shara also guessed about Russia's ongoing military campaign against the rebels a few days before the fall of the Assad regime and predicted a repeated scenario in the Gazi Strip. Ahead of the upcoming exchanges with Moscow, he said that a change in regime makes it possible to re-evaluate ties in such a way that they serve common interests.
Strubonovost Israel
Seeing the Israeli troops in the Syrian Golan Heights on Saturday, the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevy, stated that the IDF does not cooperate with those serving in Syria.
“Here was the war of the land. Their army collapsed. There is a real threat that terrorist elements will come here, and we will push forward so that… the extreme terrorist elements will not settle close to the cordon with us,” the chief of the General Staff said Israeli army.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated that the IDF bombed military strategic targets, deprived of the Syrian military that felled the Assad regime, “so that the stench does not reach the hands of the jihadists.”
He added that Israel is ready to improve relations with the new rulers, rather than to attack if they threaten the Jewish powers or allow Iran to renew its presence in Syria.
Historical conflicts between Syria and Israel
The frontier regime in Syria came to power in 1970, when Bashar al-Assad's father Hafez al-Assad seized power as a result of a bloodless coup. Assad became president after the death of his father in 2000 years.
Israel and Syria have no diplomatic issues and have formally been in perpetual war since Israel declared independence in 1948.
Syria has been one of the lowest Arab countries countries, which attacked the newly created Jewish state. Despite the truce signed in 1949, which demarcated the border between the two countries, Syria never officially recognized Israel.
Syria also attacked during the Six Days War in 1967, first the IDF defeating the Syrian army and burying the Golan Heights, which Israel later annexed unilaterally.
In 1973, around the hour of the Yom Kippur War, Syria again attacked the Israeli forces. However, the Syrian troops were abandoned after a significant withdrawal in the Golan. After the war between the powers, an agreement on disengagement was signed in 1974, which established the demilitarization of the zone on the Israeli-Syrian border.
Even if the Assad regime, which has been in existence for five decades, will fall, there may be a historic opportunity for recognition between Israel and its country, the potential vacuum of power in Syria could also lead to further chaos and serve life-giving source for the revival of terrorism in the region.
The fall of the Assad regime in Syria
On the cob, the militants of the Islamic group “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” have gained more than a little over this troops of Bashar al-Assad, They buried key places in Syria, including the capital Damascus. A transitional order of ministers was established in the country for three months.
However, immediately after the rebels captured Damascus, the Israel Defense Forces entered the territory of the country lost military and strategic objects. The reason was stated to be the destruction of this war by terrorists and other groups against Israel.
The IDF also hit the locations of the deployment of armored warehouses on the territory of the country. And later, the Syrian fleet was completely liquidated.
