As of today, perhaps half of US citizens support the military and financial assistance to Ukraine. However, more Americans are about to jump at the prospect of the end of the war.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine in its communications to the Gallup Institute for Social Research.
According to the results of the sixth sociological survey on the beginning of a large-scale invasion, 48% of respondents indicated that Ukraine would continue to support the expansion of territories that it lost in the war with Russia. At the same time, 50% of respondents support the end of the conflict in Sweden, and without the possibility of Ukraine returning all lost territories. This indicator has grown by 33% in 2022.
This evidence of a change in sentiment is consistent with previous observations, as most Americans supported the fight until further victory.
Americans are also divided on whether the United States should do too much (37%), enough (31%) or not enough (30%) to help Ukraine. More food, lower in 2024, respect that the United States has enough money, and less is not enough.
The Institute also noted the essential differences in views between representatives of the main political parties in the United States. Thus, the republicans strongly emphasize the speedy completion of the war and advocate a change in support to Ukraine – this figure is equal to the rest of the government by 20%. The intention of the Democrats is to support the trival fate and continuation of the current level of assistance to Ukraine – the level of support from the moment of the remaining population of the country by 30%.
In addition, 68% of the population of Americans Respect that neither Ukraine nor Russia is going through the war. This indicator is approximately equal among loyal republicans and democrats, as well as among independent voters.
The study was carried out from the 4th to the 15th birthday.
