Now military personnel with higher education and experience can obtain leadership positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Soldiers, sergeants and senior sergeants with at least 2 years of experience in leadership positions and an education of at least a master's degree can receive the rank of junior lieutenant and an officer's position at the same time.

From now on, military personnel with higher education and experience can obtain leadership positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine Military personnel with higher education at the master's level and leadership experience in civilian life can obtain leadership positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the colonel category.</p>
<p>As noted by the Ministry of Defense, the corresponding Decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. </p>
<p>Now, soldiers, sergeants and petty officers with at least 2 years of experience in leadership positions and an education of at least a master's degree <b>can receive the rank of junior lieutenant and an officer position at the same time.</b></p>
<p>The changes mean that there are no longer any restrictions on the staffing category for such servicemen. Also, the requirements for mandatory completion of a military training course or the conclusion of an additional contract do not apply to them.</p>
<p>In addition, servicemen who have a bachelor's degree and have completed an officer training course can also <b>receive the rank of junior lieutenant and occupy the corresponding officer positions.</b></p>
<p>As Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said, the key factor for appointment to leadership positions should be practical management skills, and not just years of service or rank. </p>
<p>“Many strong specialists have mobilized into the army. Previously, without an officer's education, they could only hold soldier positions. We must replenish the army with professional personnel and give managers with great experience every opportunity for development,” said Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine for Digitalization Kateryna Chernogorenko. </p>

<li>In addition, the Defense Ministry announced an increase in cadet pay in 2025. Cadets in the 1st and 2nd years should receive payments at the level of the minimum wage, and cadets in the 3rd and 4th years – more than 20 thousand hryvnia. </li>
<li>At the end of December, it was simplified to obtain a residence permit for foreigners who are fighting for Ukraine or are volunteers. In particular, this applies to persons performing combat or service missions at the front for at least six months.</li>
