During an interview with “Yedinye Novosti”, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the situation with cases of unauthorized departure from the unit (UU), Ukrinform reports.
“The UU is not increasing. The UU has increased in 2024, it has decreased since September or October. This is a fact. A long war is a long war. People stand and get tired. Everywhere…” Zelensky said.
He added that the increase in rotations could be due to reserves.

“There are not many reserves, because not everything arrived to complete the reserves,” the head of state emphasized.

At the end of August, the Verkhovna Rada decriminalized the first case of unauthorized departure from a unit (SZCh) or desertion of military personnel.
- In November, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill allowing return from SZCh to service without court sentences. This only applies to a one-time permit.
