The State Emergency Service reported that more than 62,000 protective structures are currently operating in Ukraine. More than 62,000 protective structures are currently operating in Ukraine, while before the full-scale war there were about 20,000.

This was announced on the air of the National Telethon “Edinye Novosti” by the Director of the Department of Civil Defense Measures of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Viktor Vitovetsky, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs writes.

According to Vitovetsky, this happened due to changes in both laws and by-laws. The changes also apply to the structural elements of protective structures. In particular, if we are talking about anti-radiation shelters or storage facilities, then the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Defense determined an indicator, for example, of excessive shock wave pressure of 100 kiloPascals.

“This is quite a lot of pressure, but it is due to the use of modern weapons, which Russia constantly uses against Ukrainian citizens,” the official noted.

In addition, the changes affected such elements as the height of the protective structure. Since the height standard of 1.9 m was adopted back in Soviet times, now it must be at least 2.5 m.

According to Vitovetsky, rescuers and police officers constantly check the condition of shelters and storage facilities.

The most common violations are the lack of seating, drinking water, a second or emergency exit from the shelter. After such comments, the owners and balance holders of the shelters eliminate the deficiencies.

Vitovetsky said that the centralized system for warning citizens about threats has been reconstructed. Currently, the process of modernization of regional and local automated systems of centralized warning of the population is underway.
