The family of 26-year-old Scotsman Jordan McLachlan, who joined the Ukrainian army almost three years ago after a period of volunteering, reported his death in the war.
According to the BBC, the volunteer served as a medic on the front lines. He made the decision to help Ukraine contain the aggressor’s advance almost immediately after the invasion began in February 2022.
Jordan’s family said they were proud of his “drive to help others and his belief that he makes a difference through his actions.” “He was a joyful son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many, and will be missed by all who knew him,” the statement said.
The British government says it is in contact with authorities in Ukraine to clarify the details of the Scotsman’s death.
