The Ministry of Defense presented a Strategy that should make military service prestigious.
According to the press service of the defense department, the Strategy for attracting, developing and retaining human capital in the Defense Forces has been developed until 2027. It covers all stages of a military serviceman’s professional path– from joining the military service to the end of a career and transition to civilian life.
“Our military personnel are the basis of the state's defense capability. Therefore, we must provide them with proper conditions of service, opportunities for career growth, psychological, medical and social support,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk.
The strategy introduces a transparent system of monetary allowances, modern training standards and clear mechanisms for professional advancement, as well as effective reintegration of veterans into civilian life. This should increase the motivation of citizens to defend the Motherland and secure the status of military service as a prestigious profession.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Strategy places a special emphasis on improving the professional military education system, integrating it with career management, and introducing basic military training in higher education institutions. New approaches to the social protection of military personnel are also being introduced. This includes developing a transparent system of pay, social support, improving medical care and rehabilitation of military personnel, and supporting the families of fallen and missing defenders.
An important aspect is also deepening cooperation with NATO, introducing Euro-Atlantic standards into the training and management system. career management of military personnel; increasing the readiness of units for joint operations.
The implementation of the Strategy involves developing annual plans and monitoring the achievement of key indicators. Interdepartmental cooperation will be coordinated by a specially created Interdepartmental Working Group.
- Military personnel with a master's degree and leadership experience in civilian life can obtain leadership positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the colonel category.
