The vice-speaker and his far-right colleagues “legitimize aggression.”
A pro-Ukrainian rally in Slovakia is expected to take place on January 10. The parliament of the republic, headed by vice-speaker Andrej Danko, will travel to Moscow and meet with Russian officials.
As European Pravda writes, the diplomatic department noted that after the 2023 parliamentary elections, Slovak officials “have never officially, openly, or publicly condemned the crimes of the Russian Federation.” Currently, representatives of the far-right forces, with their visit to the capital of the occupiers, “legitimize Russian aggression against Ukraine.”
The embassy called for “refraining from contacts with the criminal regime” and “refusing to try to flirt with the aggressor in favor of their own political and mercantile interests.”
Diplomats recalled that in the first half of the 20th century, “the Slovak nation had already become a hostage to the short-sightedness and unscrupulousness of its leaders.”
- Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused the opposition of wanting to know the details of his “personal schedule” because of his stay in a luxury hotel in Vietnam.
