Commander of the Joint Forces ZSU Gnatov will move to the General Staff, – Zelensky

Commander of the United Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Gnatov will move to the General Staff.

About RBC-Ukraine informs about the request of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Major General Andriy Gnatov sent orders to the General Staff to install the intercessor of the Chief of the General Staff,” Zelensky explained.

Vіn stated that Gnatov’s department – a new level of training for operational headquarters and greater mutual cooperation between headquarters and the front.

“We discussed these changes with the commander Oleksandr Sirsky. The tasks have been set at all levels,” he added.

What do you know about Gnatov

Andriy Gnatov – brigadier general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commander of the Joint Forces of the ZSU since 2024. He was born in Ukraine and studied at the Kharkov Institute of Tank Forces.

He began his career in the Marine Corps Battalion, and served in the Crimean Peninsula until annexation of Crimea to Russia. After this, without completing the oath, he moved to the mainland of Ukraine and continued his service.

From 2016 to 2018, Gnatov became the chief of staff of the 36th Naval Infantry Brigade, and from 2018 to 2021, he dismissed this brigade. His service on the front line of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) and the joint forces operation (JFO) resulted in significant gains in the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression.

From the beginning of a full-scale war In 2022, Gnatov joined the grouped military forces of “Primorye”, having defeated the Russian attacks on the day of Ukraine.

Due to his strategy, the military regained control over a number of populated areas in Kherson areas and successfully defeated the enemy. At the beginning of 2022, he was awarded the rank of brigadier general for his achievements in defense operations.

For his service, Andriy Gnatov was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky, the Cross of Military Merit and other sovereign insignia.

Respectfully, On June 24, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recognized Andriy Gnatov as the commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
