Should we expect severe frosts in Ukraine: forecasters' forecast for the winter

This year's winter in Ukraine is marked by unstable weather. Temperatures range from plus values to slight minuses, and noticeable frosts typical of January have not yet been recorded. Instead, significant warming is observed in some regions, in some places the thermometers have risen to +12 degrees, writes the IZ.com.ua website.

According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the possibility of an invasion of Arctic cold remains, although such phenomena have become less frequent. If severe frosts do occur, they will be short-lived. Forecasters note that currently the average monthly temperature is higher than the climatic norm, and the amount of precipitation, on the contrary, has decreased. This trend became especially noticeable in January.

As for the snow cover, this year the situation is radically different from previous decades. The traditional stable layer of snow is no longer observed in most regions. In the Carpathians, snow persists, but in other areas its formation becomes episodic. Snow can fall for several days and then melt quickly, which is why winter landscapes have become a rare phenomenon.

Forecasters remind that climate change affects the nature of winter in Ukraine. In February, both anomalous frosts and temperature records of heat are possible. Changes in weather conditions, characteristic of recent years, bring unpredictability to the winter period.

Recall, we previously wrote about mostly cloudy weather in Ukraine and without significant precipitation.
