In Ukraine, there are a number of public holidays that are celebrated at the official level. They cover religious, historical and secular events that are of particular importance to the country, writes IZ.
List of public holidays in 2025:
• January 1 – New Year
• March 8 – International Women's Day
• April 20 – Easter
• May 1 – Labor Day
• May 8 – Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism
• June 8 – Trinity
• June 28 – Constitution Day of Ukraine
• July 15 – Day of Ukrainian Statehood
• August 24 – Independence Day of Ukraine
• October 1 – Day of Defenders of Ukraine
• December 25 – Christmas
This list includes the most important Christian holidays, as well as events symbolizing the historical development of the country. In particular, in 2025, the 80th anniversary of the surrender of the Nazi regime and the commemoration of those killed in World War II will be celebrated. In addition, this year marks the 29th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Ukraine and the 34th anniversary of the state's independence.
Previously, public holidays provided for official weekends, and if they fell on Saturday or Sunday, the working day was postponed. However, due to martial law, this norm has been canceled. State institutions continue to work according to the usual schedule, and private enterprises can independently make decisions regarding weekends on these days.
