  • Nikolai Kulchinsky is a graduate of the Poltava Evening University of Journalism. His father served a sentence for connections with the underground. In 1969, Kulchinsky was arrested on charges of slandering “Soviet reality” and sentenced to 2.5 years in a camp. After returning to freedom, he founded the “Ridne slovo” club in Poltava, which became the basis for the creation of the People's Movement of Ukraine and the T. Shevchenko Ukrainian Language Society in the Poltava region. He was elected to parliament several times.
