In folk beliefs, this day was associated with natural signs. It was believed that if branches on Christmas trees drooped, then snowfall should be expected. High fog indicated warming, and a black, snowless forest foreshadowed an early spring. It was also believed that February 4 marks the beginning of the “wolf matchmaking”, a period when these animals become especially active.
Among those born on this day are Vasyl, Dmytro, Oleksandr, Mykola, Serhiy, Yuriy, Anna and Kateryna.
