How to properly care for the oral cavity after tooth removal

The procedure of tooth removal is not only a dental intervention, but also a responsible stage, which requires a careful stage. To avoid complications, it is important to follow all the doctor's recommendations and know what mouthwash to use and which are strictly forbidden, IZ writes.

In the first hours after removal, doctors do not recommend rinsing their mouth even with plain water. It is important to allow you to form a blood clot that protects the wound from bacteria and promotes rapid healing. Antiseptic rinses, such as chlorhexidine or miramistin solutions, can only be used on the third day after surgery. This will help reduce inflammation and prevent infection. Do not touch the wound with your tongue or hands, as well as brush your teeth in this area for the first days. It is forbidden to use hot compresses and apply a heater to the cheek – it can increase swelling and provoke bleeding.

In addition, doctors advise to avoid excessive physical activity and sports in the first days after surgery. Smoking and alcohol are also banned as they slow down the healing process. If you have severe pain after removing the tooth or complications have begun, you should consult a dentist immediately.
