The Ukrainian duo of Sofia Golichenko and Artem Darensky won the silver medal at the 2025 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Debrecen. As IZ reports with reference to Channel 24, this is the first silver medal for Ukraine at this tournament in the last 25 years. The Ukrainians' total score was 164.06 points, which allowed them to take second place after the Georgian duo, which received the “gold”.
In the short program, Golichenko and Darensky scored 57.40 points, which ensured their passage to the next stage. In the free program, the Ukrainians received 106.66 points, including marks for technique and staging. This achievement became historic for Ukrainian figure skating, as the last silver medal at this championship was won by Ukrainian athletes back in 2000.
The winners of the competition were Georgian figure skaters Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava, who scored 191.01 points. The third place went to representatives of Canada with a score of 155.02 points. The silver medal of Golichenko and Darensky confirms the high level of training of Ukrainian figure skaters and gives hope for further success.
