How Ukrainians can avoid paying for utilities abroad

Ukrainians who have gone abroad for more than 30 days can avoid paying utility bills in their apartments or houses. As IZ reports with reference to 24 Economy, to do this, it is necessary to submit an application for a utility bill recalculation, attaching supporting documents, such as a business trip certificate or a note about staying abroad. The service provider will consider the application and, if confirmed, will recalculate the charges.

In addition, homeowners can temporarily turn off certain services, such as gas or electricity, by contacting the relevant services. This allows you to reduce costs if no one lives in the apartment. At the same time, heating in apartment buildings will have to be paid for even if the apartment is empty. It is recommended to check your bills regularly to avoid debts.

The most effective way to avoid unnecessary charges is to install individual meters for gas, water and electricity. If you already have meters, it is worth transferring their readings every month, which will allow you to confirm zero or minimal consumption. This allows you not only to avoid unnecessary costs, but also to have full control over utility bills while you are abroad.
