Ukraine ranked fourth in the world in terms of charity, demonstrating high rates of donations to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Charities Aid Foundation, more than 63% of the country's adult population in 2024 periodically donated to the needs of the military. This became possible due to the significant activation of volunteer movements and patriotic sentiments among Ukrainians against the backdrop of the war with Russia, IZ reports with reference to Gallup.
According to the study, only 56% of adults worldwide have helped strangers, 33% have made monetary donations, and 26% have given their time to charity. The highest rate of donations was recorded in Indonesia, where a significant part of the population actively supports charitable initiatives due to religious obligations. At the same time, the lowest level of charitable activity was observed in Morocco, where only 3% of adults make monetary donations due to low incomes.
Liberia and Venezuela also topped the list, with 87% of the population actively helping those in need. Japan, on the other hand, has only 21% of adults involved in charitable activities due to cultural differences and a focus on privacy. Indonesia, on the other hand, had the highest volunteering rate at 65%, while Egypt came in at the bottom of the list at 4%.
