US will not resume aid to Ukraine after minerals deal

The United States does not plan to resume military aid to Ukraine after the signing of a mineral extraction agreement between Washington and Kyiv. According to NBC News, Donald Trump has made it clear to his aides that this is not enough to resume arms supplies and intelligence sharing. Before the meeting in Saudi Arabia, he expects concessions from Volodymyr Zelensky, writes IZ.

Trump wants Ukraine to take steps toward elections and a possible leadership change. Anonymous officials said Washington sees those conditions as necessary for a review of military support. National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said the meetings in Saudi Arabia were expected to produce positive developments that could influence U.S. decisions.

The meetings in Saudi Arabia should become key in the context of further relations between Washington and Kyiv. The signed agreement on minerals has not changed Trump's position, which seeks more serious concessions from Ukraine. The lack of concrete steps from Kyiv may leave Ukraine without support in the field of weapons and intelligence for an indefinite period.

Recall that we previously wrote that Ukraine has become one of the leaders in terms of global philanthropy.
